Michael R. Meaux founded his law firm in early 2009 to focus on personal service to his clients. Dedicated to affordable legal services for his clients, Mike practices Criminal Defense and Landlord/Tenant Law. He has also become as informed as possible concerning Colorado´s Medicinal Marijuana laws with regard to criminal and Landlord/Tenant aspects, and has expanded his practice into this area due to his dedication to those afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis. Mike is licensed to practice in all Colorado Courts, Colorado Workers´ Compensation Court, U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado and the U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition, Mike is a member of the American Bar Association, The Colorado Bar Association, The Arapahoe County Bar Association, and the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar Association.
A graduate of The University of Denver´s Sturm College of Law, Mike spent time as a student mediator at the Student Law Office, and as a practicing intern with the Colorado Public Defender´s Office. Prior to the founding of The Law Offices of Michael R. Meaux, LLC, Mike was an associate and eventually a partner in a local law firm, where he developed his skills as a trial lawyer.
Since receiving his license to practice in 2004, Mike has had numerous victories in criminal cases, from outright dismissals to successful acquittals after trial. In his most difficult case to date, Mike´s client was found not guilty of sexual assault after a week long trial and approximately 30 minutes of jury deliberations. More recently, Mike won a not guilty verdict in a felony drug possession case in Adams County. In addition, Mike has successfully represented clients in divorce and custody cases, eviction cases, civil lawsuits, and claims for workers´compensation benefits.
Prior to law school, Mike received a degree in Political Science from The University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado and attended Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Mike is an avid movie fan and golfer, and spends his time out of the office attempting to improve his golf game (as he says "there´s no where to go but up").
Mike is a strong supporter of Multiple Sclerosis advocacy groups, as both his mother and wife have been afflicted with MS. This disease affects approximately 10% of the Colorado population, and Mike is committed to aiding the Colorado MS community in legal matters and in the ultimate discovery of a cure. Mike also spends time volunteering for the Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue, a local non-profit, no kill cat sanctuary.
Mike limits his practice to Criminal Defense, Family/Domestic Law, and Landlord/Tenant Law.
